FAQs and Rules of the Farm

Because farm entrance is usually free and many areas of the property are park-like, visitors sometimes don’t realize they are on a family-owned home that’s private property. To preserve the farm atmosphere and make everyone’s visit as enjoyable and safe as possible (for all visitors, our animals and staff), we ask that you read the following:

No pets or Emotional Support Animals anywhere on the farm
We love dogs and other pets but they are not allowed anywhere on the farm. For everyone’s comfort (including our free-range chickens and livestock), to follow our insurer’s rules and to follow Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and new Oregon Department of Agriculture’s rules, no animals are allowed anywhere on the farm including Emotional Support Animals. This includes the parking lots and for pets’ safety, not in parked cars. For information about service animals, click here.

Children
This is a working farm with vehicles, working equipment and animals. For the safety and enjoyment of all, while visiting the farm, minors must be supervised by adults at all times.

Don’t Feed the Farm Animals
Feel free to give them some love and petting, but please do not feed our farm animals. They are are all on specific and measured diets for their wellbeing and some have very sensitive systems.

No Outside Food or Drinks
By purchasing your food and/or drinks while you’re on the farm, it supports our sustainable, regenerative and no-spray farming, it pays our farm hands fair wages, repairs our tractors and feeds our animals. We have food and drinks for everyone including options for vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free, kid-friendly, etc.

Smoking
We do not allow any smoking or vaping anywhere on the farm, including the parking areas. This includes cannabis, CBD or tobacco.

Tents, Decorations, Games, Sound
We do not allow tents, sun shades or decorations including balloons and piñatas. Also, we do not allow lawn games, ball games, bike riding or any music (amplified or acoustic).

Picnic Tables
We have a lot of picnic tables, but they are for sharing and not all-day use - especially those under cover. When the farm is busy, especially on weekends, please limit the use of tables to one hour.

Alcohol
The entire farm is OLCC-licensed, so we cannot allow any outside alcohol (with the exception of wine at Farm To Plate dinners, available with a corkage fee). Instead, please support the farm with our many local wines, craft beers or ciders on-tap. Note that the bottled wine in the store is to-go only.

Small Gatherings and Private Events
If you’re interested in booking a private event or party or want to reserve picnic tables, please email us at events@topazfarm.com.

Field Trips and School Outings
Our partner on-site, the Sauvie Island Center, has multiple field trip and camp opportunities for schools to come and learn to plant, harvest and enjoy the food they’ve grown. Please email us at events@topazfarm.com for more info.

Photography
Professional photographers must schedule a time and pay the photography fee prior to scheduled sessions if planning to invite clients for a photo session anywhere on the farm and/or using photos for financial gains The fee associated with having professional photography sessions at the farm is $50/client, for up to one 30-minute session. Email media@topazfarm.com to schedule your session(s) and arrange for payment. Note that no equipment, props, extra outfits or wardrobe changes are allowed outside of vehicles and you cannot interrupt the flow of business or experience of customers at the farm. Note we prohibit the use of any drones.

ADA Accessibility
Our ADA-accessible store has multiple designated parking parking spots at the entrance and two ADA restrooms in the parking lot. Much of the farm is either grass or dirt roads and/or pathways. Note the mazes, u-pick and hay rides are not easily accessible. For information about service animals, click here.

If any of the above rules don’t work for you, there are great alternatives at nearby Howell Territorial Park or Wapato State Park. But please be kind - don’t come hoping to negotiate or argue any of the above with our staff. Thanks for reading this!
